Hey our names are Kristy, JD and Justin B. We will be working with you for the Greatest Canadian Aboriginal Hero project. We have researched some facts about Tom Longboat and this is what we've got so far; -Tom Longboat was one of the most celebrated athletes in WW1-era. -He always stuck to his own methods.
Some pretty neat facts about him are; -He was a dispatch runner during the first world war for France. -He set a record of 1hour 18 minutes and 10 seconds for the 15 mile race. -He brought up his contract in 1911 and ran better than EVER!
These are just a couple of facts that we are excited to be doing this unit with you on the Greatest Aboriganl Hero Tom Longboat!
Greetings fellow workers! I found out a really cool interesting piece of information... Tom Longboat was mistakenly declared dead during WW1. During the time that he was declared dead his current wife remarried! I really thought that was interesting and might be useful! Kristy H. JD T. Justin B.
Hello. Our names are Elliott, Elyse, Jesse and Laura. We are the group from Muskoka Beechgrove who are researching Tom Longboat.
Tom Longboat was a member of The Onondaga Tribe. Onondaga means "people of the hills." He was located in the Six Nations of the Grand River reserve located in Brantford, Ontario.
Tom Longboat first started racing in 1905.
He died at 61 years of age due to diabetes, according to a letter written by his daughter.
We hope some of these facts will help you with your project.
Hi this is Britni and Stevie and we believe that Tom Longboat is the greatest Aborigignal Hero!!!!! We believe this because : He set a lot of records and alot of people could not beatt them. People put him down because he was an aboriginal but he did not give up and he kept faith in himself. It takes a true hero to do that. There is many more reasons but we can only say a few. So we hope you agree. THANK YOU!!
